Moving Forward Options

We have contacted the game creator to see if there is anything we can do to save the game at the last save (game 3 of the Cup finals between Atl & SJ. We simmed the rest of the series even though the save was lost. Atlanta won in OT of Game 7!). If there is nothing we can do to save the game at point in time, we need to discuss other options.

The last backup file was June 28, 2007 (after the draft and before free agency).

a) We go back to June 07 and start everything over. We will rewrite history completely and sim the season as we normally do (4 days per sim). All FA signings, trades, etc are null and void. The Cup will be up for grabs again. Draft order will change.

b) We go back to June 07 and start everything over. We will rewrite history completely, but we will speed up the sim schedule (7 or 10 days per sim) and have no 'online' sims until the playoffs (or possibly another point of the season if decided). All FA signings, trades, etc are null and void. The Cup will be up for grabs again. Draft order will change.

c) We go back to June 07 and try to 'mock' the previously simmed season as much as possible. We have access to all the transactions that took place in the 07-08 season. With the help of a few volunteers, we can input all the FA signings, Trades, Waiver transactions that took place. We would offline sim the game one month at a time, stop, enter in all transactions from that month, then sim to the next month. The outcome of games will obviously be different, but the player movement will mirror the real sim. We can manipulate the playoff sims to make Atl & SJ meet in the finals and have Atl win. Also, we would change the draft order and make it match the original sim via trades (BTW, Montreal won the lottery with the Vancouver pick). I'm off this Thursday. If I can get a couple of volunteers, I think we can get this done on Thursday and still have the draft on Sunday. I know there are obvious flaws to this plan, but it gets us back to where we were (don't worry about firings, we're modifying that rule anyway) and we are moving forward that much quicker, plus Wil will get to keep the Cup that he worked so hard to earn.

Everyone please give your input. Please keep all comments civil and try not to argue too much about the different options. This is a hard time for all of us right now. We've put a lot of time and energy into this, but we've got to keep the NBHL going. I don't want to give up and I hope that no one else does either.

Dammit, I want to see my draft picks grow up!!!

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

IF there is nothing that can be done...

Fuckin' CCCCCCC and only C.. in my opinion.

Everyone worked hard to build their teams up.

At least everyone will have their players still

Even though it probably a totally different standings... aaand no Calder for OKPOSO :(

it sucks cause I think I did a bang up job on my team. So this is pretty fucking frustrating.

J-Hole, GM of the Bruins, votes for option C.

I would prefer to move forward. If we completely resim the season and I win the Cup, it would feel hollow to me. Wil is the champ. My mind is already past the 07-08 season and looking forward to the draft. I don't know if my mind/heart/spirit would be 100% into it if we went backwards and replayed last season.

**This is the view of GM J-Hole and not the Co-commish.

I'm down with C. Sounds like a lot of stressful work to pull off, especially in the POs, but it makes most sense all round.

I vote C, last season was my first season. If we dont do that option then I'm stuck starting completely from scratch.

C is absolutely TERRIBLE. I absolutely don't like the idea of the game being simmed for an entire year with me not being there. I can't control the players, I can't control the practices, I can't get a feel for the players progression. Its absolutely brutal brutal brutal. Its by far the worst option. What if something happens that makes me not pull a trigger on a deal? Im FORCED to do that deal anyways?

I wouldn't mind A or B, whatever it takes so that it isin't C.

A and B are the only viable options. Some of us traded draft picks or traded for draft picks having a general idea what the draft order would look like. If you dealt a key player for a 1st rounder knowing that said 1st rounder was going to be a top pick, that could very well change in this scenario, and you end up getting royally screwed.

Further, a bunch of us made trades to shore up our teams for the playoffs. What if the players involved in those trades end up getting hurt? Say you dealt your 1st rounder for that skilled forward you needed for the playoff push, but in the re-sim, he breaks his femur in October and is out for nine months. You end up losing your 1st rounder for absolutely nothing because you are FORCED to do that trade.

Finally, some of us put a lot of effort into developing our players, and we have both short-term and long-term plans. Rushing through the season completely eliminates prospect development, as you no longer have any control over your training schedules. I, for example, put a lot of effort into developing Phil Kessel because I expect him to be a big part of my 08-09 team. With option C, I lose all of that. I now have to find a stopgap player to fill the role that I had groomed Kessel for, and that won't come cheap.

C is not a viable option. I'm fine with either A or B.

I did e-mail Jason but did not receive a reply....just curious if he reinstalled EHM 2005 to see if this would correct the problem...this would not kill the saves but might bring them back to life.. If this has been done than I will slip quietly away into the night..

I vote option C. I know it's a lot of work but we all worked hard on building our teams, seems kind of sad that all that work go to waste imo. I'm not overly concerened about players being hurt or whatever as the draft order will be the same as it was supposed to be so any players traded for picks will be the same anyways. The only concern would be player development, but imo everybody is effected the same way with this so it's almost a fair playing ground.

I know I'm a bit bias too since I have the 1st pick and another high 1st round pick, but the way I look at that is that people complaining about developing players and such, which I understand, I lose the possibility of drafting a franchise player.
